Post-Rehab Personal Trainer in Chico CA — owner James Biccum with the Gym Truck and workout equipment in Chico, CA

Post-Rehab Personal Trainer in Chico CA

Rebuild strength after an injury with a coach who works around your limitations. I train you at home in Chico, coordinate with your PT's guidance, and progress you only when you're ready.

    From Cleared To Strong

From Physical Therapy To Real Life

Physical therapy gets you out of pain and cleared to move. But "cleared" isn't the same as "strong." That gap — between finishing PT and actually trusting your body again — is where most people get re-injured. That's the gap I close.

NASM certified, with experience working alongside PTs and doctors. I'll pick up where they left off and rebuild you carefully.

    Who is this for?

Anyone in the Chico area who wants rehab & injury recovery without the friction of a commercial gym — beginners welcome, experienced lifters too.

    What does it solve?

Safe, guided training to rebuild strength after injury. I bring every piece of equipment to your driveway, garage, or backyard so consistency stops being the hard part.

    When should I call?

When you're ready to start — the consult is free and 15 minutes. Call (530) 781-3961 or book online.

    Why post-rehab training matters

PT focuses on restoring function. Strength training restores capacity — the ability to do real work, lift real things, play real sports, live a real life without that injury creeping back. Without this step, most people end up right back where they started.

    Common situations I work with

    • Post-PT for back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle
    • Returning from a sports injury
    • Recovered from a car accident
    • Cleared after rotator cuff, ACL, meniscus, or other surgical repair
    • Long-term chronic pain that's finally calmed down

    How we work

I want your PT or doctor's notes if you have them. We start well below your current capacity, focus on movement quality, and progress one step at a time. Every session I'm watching for compensations, asymmetries, anything that signals we need to back off or change course. Slow is smooth, smooth is strong.

    Where we train

At your house — driveway, garage, living room. The Gym Truck has bands, light weights, mats, and the full strength setup as you progress. No driving, no gym crowds, no pushing through anything that doesn't feel right.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is this physical therapy?

No — I'm a NASM certified personal trainer, not a PT. I work with people after PT to rebuild strength. If you still need PT, finish that first or work with both of us at the same time.

How soon after PT can I start?

Once your PT clears you for general exercise. We can also start while you're still in PT if your provider is on board.

Will you talk to my doctor or PT?

Happily. I want to be on the same page as the rest of your care team.

What if something hurts during a session?

We stop, modify, or skip it. Pain is information. I never push through it.

How long until I'm back to normal?

Depends on the injury and where you're starting. Most clients feel meaningfully stronger and more confident in 4–8 weeks. Full return to sport or heavy work is usually a few months.
