Youth & Teen Personal Trainer | Chico

Safe, certified strength and speed training for young athletes — at your house, with you watching. I teach movement quality first so your kid gets faster without getting hurt.

    The Edge They Need

Safe, Certified Training For Young Athletes

Your kid wants to start, win minutes, make varsity, get noticed. Talent is part of it — preparation is the rest. I train youth and teen athletes the same way I'd want my own trained: safe, technical, and built for the long game.

NASM certified with Speed, Agility & Quickness credentials. I come to your house or their field. Parents are welcome to watch every session.

    Who is this for?

Anyone in the Chico area who wants youth & teen athletics without the friction of a commercial gym — beginners welcome, experienced lifters too.

    What does it solve?

Safe, certified training to give your child the competitive edge. I bring every piece of equipment to your driveway, garage, or backyard so consistency stops being the hard part.

    When should I call?

When you're ready to start — the consult is free and 15 minutes. Call (530) 781-3961 or book online.

    Safety first — always

Young bodies aren't small adult bodies. Growth plates, mobility, coordination — it all matters. I program age-appropriately, focus on movement quality before load, and never push into pain. Properly coached strength training is one of the safest things a kid can do, and the data on that is overwhelming.

What we focus on by age

    • Ages 8–12 — coordination, athletic basics, fun, body-weight strength, sprint mechanics.
    • Ages 13–15 — introduce loaded movements, more speed and agility, conditioning.
    • Ages 16–18 — full strength programming, sport-specific power, recruiting-level prep.

    Confidence, not just performance

One of my favorite parts of training kids is watching the confidence change. They walk taller, they speak up more, they handle losing better, they handle winning better. The training does that as much as the wins do.

Parents are part of the team

You're welcome at every session. I'll explain what we're doing and why, what to watch for at home, what they should be eating, and how to support recovery. We're on the same team.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is lifting weights safe for kids?

Yes — when properly coached. The research on this is very clear. The risk is in unsupervised, ego-driven lifting. We don't do that. We build movement first, load second.

What age can a kid start?

Around 8 for athletic development and body-weight strength. Loaded barbell work usually around 12–13, depending on the kid's maturity and movement quality.

    Will training stunt their growth?

No. That myth has been debunked for decades. Properly programmed strength training actually supports healthy growth and reduces injury risk in sports.

    Can siblings train together?

Yes — small group rates. Great way to make it a habit and split the cost.

Do I need to stay during the session?

Up to you. Many parents stay and watch (encouraged), some drop off and pick up. Whatever works for your family.
